- Introduction
Our Society has photographers of all skill levels and development. Some of our members are novices while others are very experienced. Most of the membership falls some place in between.

Some of our members have their own darkrooms while others avail themselves of a processing lab. Many of our members have now graduated into digital photography. Some of the members photograph with slide film while others use print film. Some of the members use mostly black and white film but most prefer color. A few of us have experimented with Polaroid manipulations and hand coloring our black and white images.

Some of us are strictly nature photographers while others photograph everything they see. A few are studio photographers, arranging everything before pushing the shutter release.

What we all have in common is a love of the art and science of photography and a willingness to share our skills with our fellow Burnaby Photographic Society members. We enjoy sharing our images and we share in the experiences of taking pictures.

We are of all ages and many native tongues. Our lives outside the Society are very varied. But when we are together the photographic experiences bind us. Please enjoy our web site.

- History of BPS
Founded in 1970 by a group of amateur photographic enthusiasts to broaden their knowledge, and encourage photography as an Art form, the Society continues this philosophy today. Over the years many of its members have continued onto careers in the photographic field. A non-profit society, as of summer of 2002 we have over 50 individuals holding membership and actively meeting to promote photography.
The Society is a member of the Canadian Association for Photographic Art (CAPA) and the Burnaby Arts Council.

Amongst founding members were Don MacGillvary, Fred Chapman, Jack Fun ...
